Dilek Colak

Dr. Dilek Colak received Ph.D. degree (summa cum laude) in electrical engineering from The Ohio State University, Columbus in 2000. She worked at Bell Laboratories, Lucent Technologies, Murray Hill, NJ in 2000-2002 as a professional scientist. She is currently working at Biostatistics, Epidemiology and Scientific Computing of the King Faisal Specialist Hospital and Research Centre as a scientist. Her current research interests include the development and application of statistical and computational methods for the analysis of biomedical and genomic data, computational biology, statistical and computational genomics, and bioinformatics. She has been involved in several ongoing projects related to genome wide gene expression studies, genome wide scanning, and linkage studies, association studies and aCGH experiments using different microarray platforms. Her projects focus on using computational and laboratory techniques to better understand human diseases and the mechanisms underlying them, including several complex diseases such as cancer, autism, mental retardation, unknown chromosomal disorders related to dysmorphia, cardiovascular disease, metabolic and developmental diseases and others. She is the recipient of International Young Scientist Award by the General Assembly of International Union of Radio Science, Best Publication award for 2010 by KFSHRC, Outstanding Scholastic Achievement award by the Ohio State University. She is profiled in Who\'s Who in the World, Who\'s Who in the America, Who\'s Who in Science and Engineering.
