Asadoliah Saadatniaki

Dr. Asadollah SaadatNiaki was born in 1957 in Iran. He graduated as a general physician in 1983 at the Tabriz Medical University, and in 1988 he earned his degree as an anesthesiologist from the Shahid Beheshti Medical University, Tehran, Iran. He has been working in the field of acute pain management since 1990 and from 1999 has actively focused on chronic pain management. From 2001 to 2005 he was a member of the Iranian Anesthesiologist Board Examination. Since 2007, he has been the Director of Pain education program in Shahid Beheshti University of Medical Sciences. Dr. SaadatNiaki\'s scientific activities are in the field of anesthesiology and acute and chronic pain management. The results of his research were presented in different local and international congresses and published in various domestic and international medical journals from 1989 till 2011.

Local anesthetics are being increasingly applied in different surgeries. Lower side effects of neuroaxial anesthesia, regional anesthesia, and field block, in comparison to general anesthesia (volatile and intravenous agents), are the main reasons why physicians prefer to conduct surgeries under local anesthesia, especially in outpatient and day care surgeries. It is important to emphasize the presence of an anesthesiologist, and vigilant monitoring of the homodynamic parameters, in decreasing a patient's anxiety, exerting other modalities for analgesia and increasing the safety margin in many procedures.
