Serdar Erol is an Associate Professor at the Istanbul Technical University (ITU), Turkey. He obtained his bachelor's degree in Geodesy and Photogrammetry Engineering at the Istanbul Technical University in 1996, the master of science degree at ITU in 1999, and the Ph.D. degree in Geodesy at the ITU in 2008. His main research areas include geodesy, satellite geodesy, monitoring, and analyzing structural deformations using geodetic methods, sea-level monitoring, engineering surveying and applications, GNSS-positioning, statistical data analyses and modeling, spectral data evaluation methods. He has been as a research associate at the University of Calgary-Geomatics Engineering Department, in Canada. He currently contributes to study groups of the International Association of Geodesy (IAG) and Turkey National Geodesy Commission (TUJK). He is a member of the ITU Gravity Research Group, and currently supervising graduate theses studies in Geomatics Engineering Programs at ITU. He has carried administrative responsibility as vice-chair of the Geomatics Engineering Department of ITU since 2016.
