Dr. Nasser Kashou ( has a unique background in interdisciplinary human brain education and research which allows him to bring a fresh dimension and a much needed paradigm shift to the study of brain health coupled with the capability of providing leadership. As the director of experimental research in the department of radiology at Nationwide Children\'s Hospital (NCH), Dr. Nasser Kashou focused on creating an infrastructure that would allow the physicians to grow and develop translational research, technology and education. This included developing a sustainable undergraduate and medical student research internship program, educational seminars, mentorship infrastructure, securing internal & regional resources, and building multi-institute & industry collaborations. Dr. Nasser Kashou then became part of the biomedical engineering faculty at Wright State University. During this time he focused on developing a research program and implementing an academic vision. This included establishing and directing two brain research labs, revitalizing, and sustaining an otherwise nonexistent graduate (MS & PhD) medical imaging program. Dr. Nasser Kashou achieved this by developing and teaching material via four courses: Biomedical Computation (MATLAB), Medical Imaging (PET, SPECT, CT, US, MRI), Processing of Medical Images, and Nuclear Magnetic Resonance Imaging in Medicine. In these courses he emphasized the clinical imaging end goal as he taught computer software, physics, engineering, and physiology. Dr. Nasser Kashou has covered all clinical medical imaging modalities. His experience includes: • 16+ yrs: Medical imaging and processing • 13+ yrs: Human Brain, Biomedical, & Clinical research – pediatric & adult • 13+ yrs: MRI, CT, SPECT, PET, near infrared spectroscopy (NIRS) – brain focus • 13+ yrs: Multi-institute & multidisciplinary collaborations • 12+ yrs: Management & Leadership – managing and directing interdisciplinary teams • 9+ yrs: Mentoring – premedical students, residents, fellows, and all engineering disciplines • 6+ yrs: Teaching – undergraduate and graduate levels
