Maria Goretti Moreira Guimarães Penido, MD, PhD is Associate Professor of Pediatrics and Pediatric Nephrology at the Federal University of Minas Gerais, School of Medicine, Department of Pediatrics and Pediatric Nephrology Unit. She graduated medicine in 1980 at the Federal University of Minas Gerais, and obtained her Master Degree in Pediatric Nephrology in 1995 at the same institution, as well as a PhD in Pediatric Nephrology in 2000. She was a Postdoctoral Fellow in the Bone and Mineral Disorders Clinic and Research Laboratory, Section of Pediatric Nephrology, The Children’s Mercy Hospitals and Clinics, University of Missouri, Kansas City School of Medicine, US. She is member of the Unity of Pediatric Nephrology, Clinics Hospital, School of Medicine, Federal University of Minas Gerais, Belo Horizonte, Brazil.
