Carlos Panizo

Carlos Panizo was born in Pamplona, Spain, in 1968. He received the Medical and Surgical License and the Ph.D. degrees from the University of Navarre, Pamplona, Spain, in 1992 and 1998 respectively. He performed the residency for the specialty in hematology and hemotherapy in the University Clinic of Navarre until 1997. Since 2007, he has been working as a Consulting Doctor of the Department of Hematology and Hemotherapy of the University Clinic of Navarre, where previously he served as a Medical Collaborator (Attending Physician) from 1998. From 1994 to 2000, he served as a Clinical Assistant Professor, and since 2000, he has been serving as an Associate Professor in the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Navarre. In 2009, he achieved the Spanish ANECA recognition as a Contracted Teacher Doctor. He is mainly interested in diagnosis and therapy of lymphomas and chronic lymphoproliferative syndromes: evaluation of PET technology as diagnostic and prognostic tool, application of immunohistochemistry and molecular technologies for diagnosis, cancer vaccine therapy, clinical assays with new monoclonal antibodies and new drugs. Both in 1999 and 2000, he was the corecipient of the Fondo de Imagen en Hematología Award. He is a Member of the European Heamatology Association (EHA), the Spanish Society of Hematology and Hemotherapy (AEHH) and he obtained also the membership of the GELTAMO group for the treatment of aggressive lymphomas.
