Dr. Balwant Singh Gendeh is a senior consultant ENT surgeon with a sub-specialty in rhinology. His previous achievements include being an ENT registrar at the Royal Infirmary, Middlesbrough, UK in 1993, and a JW Fulbright Scholar to the United States in 1997 and at the University of Pittsburgh (UPMC), Hospital University of Pennsylvania (HUP), Philadelphia, and St Joseph’s Hospital, Chicago. He received a diploma from the Fellowship Academy of Medicine Malaysia (FAMM) in 2000. He was the previous board chairman of the Malaysian American Commission on Educational Exchange (MACEE), an international fellow of the American Academy of Otolaryngology–Head and Neck Surgery (AAOHNS), and a fellow of the Academy of Sciences Malaysia (FASc). Dr. Gendeh has written and published ninety-eight scientific papers and thirty-nine book chapters and edited eleven books.

This book discusses selected topics on the surgical anatomy of paranasal sinuses and their applications, highlighting recent advances in rhinology. It is organized into five sections on anatomy of the paranasal sinuses, radiology of midfacial structures, physiology of the nasolacrimal drainage system, paranasal sinus tumors, and paranasal sinus surgery. The book includes eight chapters that address the frontal sinus, nasal septum, lacrimal obstruction diseases, tumors of the frontoethmoidal region, and more. The chapters present new clinical and research developments as well as future perspectives on paranasal anatomy and treatment approaches.
