Eduard Alentorn-Geli

Dr. Alentorn-Geli is currently working at INSTITUTO CUGAT in Barcelona, a multidisciplinary Sports Medicine, private practice group dedicated to the diagnosis and treatment of simple and complex disorders of professional (particularly soccer players) and non-professional athletes from all over the world. The group is directed by the world-renowned Dr. Ramón Cugat, considered one of the best international experts in orthopedic sports medicine and arthroscopic knee surgery. Dr. Eduard Alentorn-Geli is a surgeon, clinician and researcher with extensive experience in the diagnosis and treatment of simple and complex disorders of the Shoulder, Elbow and Knee at INSTITUTO CUGAT and at the Catalan Soccer Federation through the Mutualidad Catalana de Futbolistas (Barcelona, Spain). Dr. Alentorn-Geli started the Residency in Orthopedic Surgery and Traumatology at the Hospital del Mar i l'Esperança (Autonomous University of Barcelona) after completing the National Admission exam in the 96th percentile. Dr. Alentorn received the Resident of the Year Award from the Spanish Society of Orthopedic Surgery and Traumatology. This award is given to the best resident of the country during the 5-year period when he did the residency program. Shortly after, he obtained the European Title of Specialist in Orthopedic Surgery and Traumatology by the European Board of Orthopedics and Traumatology (EBOT) and the Medical License to work in the USA. Dr. Alentorn-Geli then moved to the USA where he pursued a one-year Clinical Fellowship in Orthopedic Sports Medicine at Duke University (Durham, North Carolina, USA), a program Accredited by the American Council of Graduate Medical Education. The program included a great training in arthroscopic and open knee and shoulder surgery. In addition, he served as a Team Physician for the American football, European football and basketball teams at Duke University. During the following year, Dr. Alentorn-Geli performed a second Accredited Clinical Fellowship in Adult Reconstruction Surgery of the Shoulder and Elbow at the prestigious Mayo Clinic (Rochester, MN, USA), considered one of the best hospitals in the country by the US News magazine. During that year, he learned reconstruction techniques of any simple and complex disorders of the Shoulder and Elbow.
