Dr. Afaneh earned his medical degree from The Chicago Medical School in 2007. He is a resident in General Surgery at New York-Presbyterian Hospital/Weill Cornell Medical College. In 2009, he pursued a two-year research fellowship in the Department of Transplantation Medicine, where his worked focused on renal allograft recipients and urinary cell gene expression patterns, predicting and prognosticating outcomes. He has won several awards including the Genzyme’s Clinical Science Award, TTS/Astellas Young Investigator Award, and the ERA-EDTA: Best Abstract by a Young Investigator Award. He is finishing his General Surgery residency in 2014.
