Alan Shikani MD, FACS has done his training in Otolaryngology-Head & Neck surgery at the Johns Hopkins Hospital and is currently an Assistant Professor in Otolaryngology-Head & Neck surgery at the Johns Hopkins School of Medicine in Baltimore, Maryland. He is also the chief of Otolaryngology-Head & Neck Surgery at the Union Memorial Hospital, director of the Rhinology Fellowship program at Union Memorial Hospital and chief of Otolaryngology-Head & Neck Surgery at the Good Samaritan Hospital. Dr. Shikani is a fellow of many medical societies, including: the Triologic society, the American Academy of Facial Plastic Reconstructive Surgery, the American College of Surgeons, the American Academy of Otolaryngology, the American Rhinological Society and the Alpha Omega Honor Medical Society. Dr. Shikani holds seventeen patents in his name either individually or as a co-inventor and has published several articles and book chapters in the field of Otolaryngology-Head & Neck surgery. Dr Shikani is also the winner of the prestigious Maurice H. Cottle Award presented by the American Rhinological Society in September, 2002 for his work on cartilage tissue engineering using nasal chondrocytes.
