David Shih

David Q. Shih, MD, PhD is Assistant Director of Basic Research at the Cedars-Sinai Inflammatory Bowel and Immunobiology Research Institute. Dr. Shih's main research interests are in understanding the genetics and the mechanisms of the immune response associated with Crohn's disease and ulcerative colitis. Dr. Shih is a member of several professional organizations, including MENSA and American Gastroenterological Association Dr. Shih has authored or co-authored numerous articles for peer-reviewed publications, including Nature Genetics, Proceedings of National Academic of Sciences, European Journal of Immunology and PLoS One. He earned his bachelor's of science degree from Massachusetts Institute of Technology where he was elected Phi Beta Kappa honors society. Dr. Shih earned a combined medical and doctorate degree from Weill Medical College of Cornell University and Rockefeller University. He completed his residency at Stanford University and his gastroenterology fellowship at the University of Califoria, Los Angeles, where he served as Chief Fellow for two years.
