Tadamichi Shimizu

Tadamichi Shimizu is a Professor and the Chairman of the Department of Dermatology, Graduate School of Medicine and Pharmaceutical Sciences, University of Toyama, Japan. He received the M.D. degree from Hokkaido University School of Medicine, Japan, and the Ph.D. degree from Hokkaido University School of Medicine, in 1986 and 1992, respectively. Between 1991 and 1993, he worked as a Postdoctoral Fellow at the Department of Microbiology and Immunology, University of Miami School of Medicine, Miami, Fla, USA. In 1993, he returned to the Hokkaido University Hospital, Japan, and served as an Assistant Professor during 1996–2005; and since 2005 at the Department of Dermatology, University of Toyama, as a Professor and the Chairman. His main research fields are photoimmunology, allergy, and inflammatory cytokines. In 2004, he received the JSID’s Fellowship SHISEIDO Award and the Japanese Society of Interferon & Cytokine Research Award and, in 2005, the Japanese Society of Allergology Abbott Japan Allergy Award, in 2011, the Society of Geriatric Dermatology, Rohto Award.
