Iskander Al-Githmi

Iskander Al-Githmi, MD, is a Consultant and Assistant Professor of Surgery at King Abdulaziz University Hospital, Department of Surgery, Division of Cardiothoracic Surgery. He is board-certified by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada in General Surgery, Thoracic Surgery and Cardiac Surgery. Dr.Al-Githmi has special interest in coronary artery bypass grafting, mitral valve repair, thoracic aneurysm surgery, minimal invasive thoracic surgery and lung transplantation. Dr.Al-Githmi born and grew up in Jeddah, and graduate of King Abdulaziz University medical school. He received his clinical and advanced training in general surgery, thoracic surgery, cardiac surgery and critical care of medicine from the University of Manitoba, Alberta and Toronto in Canada. After completing his education and training, he returned to Jeddah in January 2001 and joined King Faisal Specialist Hospital and Research Center as attending cardiothoracic surgeon. In addition, Dr.Al-Githmi worked at the Chinese University of Hong Kong as an Assistant Professor of Surgery, and then he returned to Jeddah and joined cardiothoracic Surgery division at king Abdulaziz University in 2007. Dr.Al-Githmi has authored and co-authored of several articles and papers published in leading journals. Dr.Al-Githmi is a member of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada, American College of Chest Physicians, American College of Surgeons, Society of Thoracic Surgeons, European Association for Cardiothoracic Surgery, American Heart Association, Canadian Cardiovascular Society, Michael De Bakey international Surgical Society and Saudi Council for Health Specialties
