Sergey Tkachev

Dr. Sergey Tkachev graduated from the Faculty of Natural Sciences, Novosibirsk State University, Russia in 1998. From 1996 till the current time he has been the employee of the Institute of Chemical Biology and Fundamental Medicine SB RAS, Novosibirsk, Russia. The current research and scientific interests include virology, molecular genetics, biology and epidemiology of virus pathogens and especially – arboviruses (including Flaviviruses) and Rabies virus. He is the lecturer and instructor of Big Biochemical Workshop at the Faculty of Natural Sciences of Novosibirsk State University. In 2010 he attended a 2-week practice in Niigata Medical University, Japan. He is also the member of the editorial board of “Ticks and tick-borne diseases” journal (Elsevier) and the author of more than 40 articles and chapters in Russian and international journals and books.

Encephalitises are a group of inflammatory human and animal diseases of brain caused essentially by different pathogens. In spite of evident success in approaches for prevention, diagnostics and treatment during the last decades, the encephalitises of different etiology still constitute a menace for thousands of people all around the world. In this book the different aspects of encephalitises of different etiology are discussed such as diagnostics, treatment and clinical management of patients. Also, the data on epidemiology, monitoring, pathology and diagnostics of different viral causative agents are discussed.
