Diego Franco

Diego Franco, PhD is Professor in Cell Biology at the Department of Experimental Biology of the University of Jaén (Spain). During his training as post-doctoral fellow at the Academic Medical Centre-University of Amsterdam (1994-2000) and the Pasteur Institute (Paris) (1996-1997) he acquired large expertise on molecular embryology. He was honoured to be the first Pexieder award (1996) of the ESC Development Anatomy and Pathology Working Group and its chairman from 2008-2010. He has co-authored over 80 publications and supervised several Degree, Master, Doctoral and Post-doctoral students. His current research interests are focused on understanding the functional role of non-coding RNAs in the context of cardiovascular development and disease, with special emphasis on exploring their therapeutic potential in arrhythmogenic cardiac diseases.
