Karen Butler-Purry

Karen L. Butler-Purry (SM’01) received her B.S. (summa cum laude) in Electrical Engineering in 1985 from Southern University in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. She was awarded her M.S. degree in 1987 from the University of Texas at Austin and her Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering in 1994 from Howard University in Washington, D.C. She joined Texas A&M University in 1994, where she currently serves as Associate Provost for Graduate Studies and Professor in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering. Her research interests are in the areas of distribution automation and intelligent systems for power quality, equipment deterioration, and fault diagnosis.
