Institut Pasteur of Shanghai China

Khashayar Shahin is currently working as a researcher at The Center for Microbes, Development, and Health (CMDH), Institut Pasteur of Shanghai-Chinese Academy of Sciences (IPS-CAS). He publishes more than 40 peer-reviewed publications since 2017 (citation 611, H-index 15 up to Nov 24, 2022) in Shigella incidence, antimicrobial resistance, bacteriophage isolation and characterization, comparative genomic analysis, bio-controlling of bacterial pathogens, phage/host interactions, phage/eukaryotic cell interaction, and food safety. More recently, he worked on an innovative idea: How to enhance the antibacterial potential of a phage cocktail to eliminate greater and faster the targeted antibacterial resistance bacteria which resulted in an MXene (the last generation of nanoparticle) conjugated phages with extremely high and potential against multi-drug resistance Shigella isolates. Presently, he works on the human microbiome, phageome, and the interaction of specific phage cocktails and healthy microbiomes.
