Ivan K. Dimov

Dr. Ivan Dimov is currently a Visiting Instructor and Sieble Scholar at the Stem Cell and Regenerative Medicine Institute, Stanford University, School of Medicine. He is also an Assistant Professor of Biomedical Engineering at the Biomedical Engineering Department, University of Valparaiso and a post doctoral visiting scholar at the BioPOETS Lab. in U. C. Berkeley. Dr. Dimov received his B.Eng. and M.Sc. degrees in electrical engineering from the Technical University Federico Santa Marıa (UTFSM), Valparaiso Chile in 2004. He then completed his Ph.D. in Applied Physics at the Biomedical Diagnostics Institute, Dublin City University in Ireland. He is the co-founder of the Robotics Research and Development Center at UTFSM and the Center for Hospital Technologies (CTH) at the University of Valparaiso. He is also a co-founder of several start-up companies, including Bioatomatizacion and BlobCode Ltda. His current research includes Micro Total Analysis Systems (uTAS), microfluidics and cell based micro-device assays. Based on this research Dr. Dimov co-founded with Dr. Ben Ross and Dr. Luke Lee, DiAssess Inc. a start-up based in U.C. Berkeley focused on developing novel sample-to-answer diagnostics systems for highly multiplexed and self contained detection of infectious diseases for Global Health applications. Dr. Dimov is the author of over 20 technical publications and 7 international patents.
