Joined ICAR – Central Institute of Fisheries Technology in 2009. Currently working as Senior Scientist and Scientist- in -charge of Byproduct section of ICAR-CIFT. During the last thirteen years of service in CIFT, she worked extensively on several marine biomolecules/biopolymers with biomedical and nutraceutical properties. Bioceramic hydroxyapatite from fish scale and bone, chitosan and water-soluble chitosan derivatives, Chitosan sponge for tissue regeneration applications, Chitosan-collagen composite scaffolds, Photoprotective (UV) chitosan gel, Chitosan beads for Antibacterial mouthwash, Collagen peptide from fish scale and skin, Melanin from cephalopod ink, Astaxanthine from shrimp head waste, Crystalline proteins form tuna eye, etc. She is currently heading a project on ‘Development and validation of Biomedical and cosmetic products from secondary fishery raw materials. Commercialized’ more than 50 technologies through the ABI cell of ICAR-CIFT. Bagged Prof. Hiralal Chaudhuri Award in 2016 for Excellence in Innovative Research by Zoological Society, Kolkata, Humboldt foundation fellowship, Germany in 2014 and NAIP grant for undergoing training at Rutgers University, USA in 2014.
