University of Alabama at Birmingham

Dr. Xiaoxiao Hao received her M.D. degree and Ph.D. degree in China. Since graduating, she worked at the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) as a researcher. Her research has focused on the immune system on disease progression with an emphasis on the role of complement and microglial activation in the association of periodontitis and Alzheimer’s disease (AD), and the effect of mutual and dynamic cross talks of tumor cells and immune cells on the behavioral of cancer cells. Moreover, she is particularly interested in the epigenetics mechanisms of tumor cell migration especially to investigate the mechanisms by which the Inc RNA DRAIC interrupts the IKK complex to inhibit the NF-KB signaling, suggesting that targeting the LncRNA DRAIC could be a novel anti-cancer therapeutics.
