McGill University Canada

My doctorate background in the Human Development program within the Department of Educational and Counseling Psychology at McGill University provided opportunities for me to explore my primary areas of interest - working with 1) students with disabilities and 2) LGBTQ+ (lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer and gender non-comforming) youth population. With over 8 years of experience working in various educational institutions at the high school level, CEGEP level (Collège d'enseignement général et professionnel, otherwise known as a technical and pre-university institution), and at the university level, my primary passion lies in actively listening to those students who feels disempowered or encounter barriers at their institution and problem solve collaboratively to remove those obstacles, a philosophy also known as Universal Design for Learning. My primary interests revolve around diversity, equity, looking at a variety of stakeholders that relate to both of my population of interest. This can include pre-serive and in-service educators' attitudes, beliefs, and perceptions towards the recent implementation of sexual health education in Québec, and how that impacts students. Other interests revolve around creating safer spaces for students through working in a collaborative relationship to overcome their barriers and creating positive learning experiences. One of my strong beliefs is to use my position in providing a space to voice the concerns of those marginalized communities who are unheard and oppressed.
