Franco Oliveri

Franco Oliveri was born in Genoa, Italy in 1959. He received the “Laurea in Ingegneria Elettronica” cum Laude in 1983 from the University of Genoa. Franco has started his professional experience working for one of the major European suppliers of Military Technology where he progressed from Design Engineer to become the Lab. Manager of the C3I R&D Laboratory dealing with HW & SW design of military computers and communication systems. Subsequently he worked as R&D Director in Malaysia for an European major supplier of Telecommunication systems in the area of Narrow-band equipment as well as Fiber Optics and GSM; his last working experience before joining the JRC was in the area of GSM-R and WiMAX where he was Vice President Sales . In 2006, he joined the Directorate General Joint Research Centre of the European Commission. In the last four years, Mr. Oliveri has worked on Secure Wireless Communication for Public Safety with a focus on Software Defined Radios and Cognitive Radios, he has also collaborated to the design of a MIMO Radar for Area Surveillance
