Hongqiang Ru received the Bachelor (1983) and Master degrees (1985) at Northeastern University, China. In 2002, he became a Professor in the same school, and obtained his PhD degree in 2004. Professor Hongqiang Ru now is also the Associate Dean of School of Materials and Metallurgy, Northeastern University. His research interest includes structural ceramics, special refractory ceramics, ceramic/metal composites and wear-resisting ceramics, porous ceramics, etc. He published over 100 peer-reviewed papers and two books (Chief Editor), and also holds 5 China Invention Patents. For his outstanding work as a leading scientist in more than 25 projects in recent years, including three State Key Basic Research Program (863) projects, he has received 4 provincial rewards.
