Professor Vinita Puri is presently heading the Department of Plastic Surgery and Burns at Seth GS Medical College and KEM Hospital Mumbai. She is an alumnus of medical schools in Mumbai. Among her achievements she has been honored with the Donald R. Laub Humanitarian Award 2016 by ReSurge International, the Safdurjung Professorship by National Academy of Burn India (NABI). She has been a recipient of the Kilner award and the N H Antia award of Association of Plastic Surgeons of India (APSI). She was also the APSI visiting Professor of Plastic Surgery for the year 2013-2014. She was the Editor of the Indian Journal of Burns from 2011 to 2017 and Volume Editor of Volume 5 (Burn) of the Textbook of Plastic, Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgery (THIEME MEDICAL PUBLISHERS NEWYORK). She has many publications in international and national books and journals. Dr. Puri is the Past-President of the National Academy of Burns India, the South East Asia representative on the Executive board of the International Society of Burn Injuries and the Honorary secretary of the Asia Pacific Burn Society. She is also ReSurge Honorary Medical Director for India, Member of the advisory board of Regional Organ and Tissue Transplant Organization Western region, and Member of the Medical Advisory Board of Impact India foundation which runs the Lifeline Express catering to the poor and needy in the interiors of the country. Dr. Puri and her team organize and run the 1st only Pediatric Burn Survivor camp of India. Treating the poor and economically backward sections of society is a special passion of hers and towards that end she has served and offered her services to innumerable surgical and medical camps for the last 25 years across the country. Her special interests are Hand surgery, Reconstructive Micro surgery, Brachial plexus surgery and Burns.
