Eduardo Dei-Cas

Current position Eduardo Dei-Cas, MD, PhD, is associate professor and medical practitioner at the Lille-2 University Faculty of Medicine and Lille-2 University Hospital Center. He is a member of the 'Biology & Diversity of Emergent Eukaryotic Pathogens' group (INSERM U1019, CNRS UMR8402) at the Lille Pasteur Institute. He was the Research Director of the Ecology of Parasitism (EA3609) group - attached to Lille-2 University, between 1988 and 2009. Short Curriculum Vitae: Dr Dei-Cas specialized early in Medical Parasitology and Mycology, holding positions since 1982 in the Lille-2 University Faculty of Medicine and Lille-2 University Hospital Center, where he holds the rank of full associate professor since 1985. He was project leader at the French National Institute of Health & Medical Research (INSERM, 1986-97), and since 1986 he developed basic research on fungi of genus Pneumocystis in the Lille Pasteur Institute. His research management activity involves coordination of national or European research networks since 1994. In 1997 he started a research program on Cryptosporidium molecular epidemiology, and participated as expert in work groups of French Standards Association, French Food Safety Agency and European Food Safety Authority. Dr Dei-Cas has authored about 300 publications, mostly in international journals. He is guest editor of thematic issues or reviewer for international scientific journals. He is member of the American Society of Microbiology, International Society of Human and Animal Mycology, European Society of Philosophy of Medicine & Healthcare, French Society of Parasitology, French Society of Medical Mycology, Belgian Society of Human and Animal Mycology, International Society of Human and Animal Mycology and other scientific associations. Dr Dei-Cas is frequently invited to make academic lectures by Academic institutions from European, African, Middle East and New World countries. He was recently named member of the Royal Academy of Medicine and Surgery of Cadiz (Spain).
