Aman Karim

Dr. Aman Karim is an Associate Professor and Head, Section, Phytochemistry and Natural Product Research at NUMS Department of Biological Sciences (NDBS). He earned his Ph.D. from HEJ Research Institute of Chemistry, the University of Karachi in the area of Natural Product Chemistry and also remained Ph.D. Research Visitor at the CRL, the University of Oxford UK. In 2012. He worked as Postdoctoral Fellow at the Aga Khan University, Karachi Pakistan. Before Joining NUMS, He worked for seven years (2013-2020) as Foreign Faculty, at the School of Pharmacy, College of Health Sciences, Mekelle University, Ethiopia. Dr. Aman’s research interests are the discovery of anti-inflammatory, immunomodulatory, and anti-infective natural products, chemical profiling/quality control of herbal products using hyphenated techniques, and natural product metabolomics. He is part of HEC and NUMS internal grants as PI and Co-PI and has established collaboration with scientists from a leading university in China, Europe, and the US. His teaching specialties are Biosynthesis of medicinal natural products, Mass and NMR spectroscopic analysis of natural products, Quality control of herbal products, and Research methodology. He is currently involved in developing different courses and curricula for the upcoming new degree and diploma programs at NUMS.
