Imran Ahmad

Ahmad has completed his PhD at MJIIT, Universiti Teknologi Malaysia. He worked on the treatment of restaurant wastewater containing FOG using Chlorella vulgaris in a bubble column photobioreactor. Ahmad specialises in the cultivation and valorisation of freshwater microalgal species in a variety of environments, particularly wastewater. He has published his work in peer-reviewed journals and book chapters and attended and presented at about 29 international conferences. Ahmad has recently published a Handbook of Research entitled Algae as a Sustainable Solution for Food, Energy, and the Environment with IGI Publications, and a book titled Composites from the Aquatic Environment with Springer Nature is under production. Ahmad received the best presentation award at six international conferences. In 2021, he was awarded an Algae Industry Incubation Consortium (AIIC) grant, a Japan grant, and a My Membrane award in Malaysia. He was also the recipient of the Young Scholars grant awarded by the School of Postgraduate Studies, UTM. Ahmad has eight years of experience teaching in AICTE-accredited engineering colleges in India. Ahmad has student memberships in the International Society for Applied Phycology (ISAP), International Water Association (IWA), Northeast Algal Society (NEAS), Ecological Society of America (ESA), British Phycological Society, and Northeast Algal Society (NEAS).
