Tariq Umar is a Chartered Civil Engineer (CEng) and International Professional Engineer (IntPE) registered with the Engineering Council, UK. He has more than 16 years experience in both the academic and industrial fields. He started his career as a Junior Engineer in 2003 after completing a Higher Diploma in Civil Engineering, before he completed a Bachelor\'s Degree in Civil Engineering in 2008 and subsequently moving to London for his Master\'s studies. In 2009, he completed a Master\'s Degree in Civil Engineering from the University of East London, UK, where he had a chance to conduct research on road pavements made with a variety of materials. In 2010, he moved back to Pakistan and worked as a Senior Civil Engineer in a local Municipal Organization until he started his current position in Oman. He remained a Graduate Member of the Institution of Civil Engineers, UK, from 2010 to 2016. He passed his professional review in late 2016 and registered as International Professional Engineer (IntPE) and Chartered Civil Engineer (CEng) with the Engineering Council, UK. He has completed his PhD in Construction Management from the School of Built Environment and Architecture, London South Bank University, UK. Tariq has published several research articles in both international journals and conference proceedings. His research interests include, but are not limited to, construction management, construction materials, engineering sustainability, renewable and sustainable energy, and waste and resource management. He is currently working on a research project entitled “Improving of Safety Performance in Construction Organizations” with London South Bank University\'s collaboration. He is an approved mentor of the Institution of Civil Engineers (ICE, UK) and helping civil engineers in the region to become professionally qualified engineers. He is also serving as a member of the ICE\'s local management committee in Oman.
