Dr.Shadha ALAmri, is an Academic Researcher, Innovation Inspector and Curriculum Developer. She is an Ambassador in Omani SmartCity platform. Shadha is an academic faculty in Higher College of Technology (HCT)- Muscat since 2007. In Aug-2020, the college is upgraded to be a university and renamed to be The University of Technology & Applied Science. Her PhD thesis entitled: “IaaS-cloud Security Enhancement: An Intelligent Attribute Based Access Control Model and Implementation” done in 2017 from Loughborough University -UK. Her MSc in Internet and Network Security Computing done in 2007 from Loughborough University -UK. Her BSc in Computer Science from Sultan Qaboos University -Oman-2005. Her research areas are in computer network and security, Cloud computing, access control security, artificial intelligent and formal logic - Modal logic.

An Intelligent Access Control Model

Cybersecurity is a critical issue as the world is moving towered IR4 era (Industrial Revaluation 4.0) where technology is involved, and access to the internet is an imperative need. The traditional computing systems are not able to meet the huge computing demand and growing data (Big-Data). Therefore; new technologies have been evolved such as cloud computing. This chapter is exploring the need for a dynamic access control approach to enhance the Cybersecurity. The scope in this chapter is focusing on IaaS (Infrastructure as a Service) layer of cloud computing. The research approach aims to enhance the basic ABAC (Attribute-Based Access Control) model by adding a context-aware feature and SoD principle. The enhanced model called ABACsh. This proposed enhancement is implemented through a framework based on AI (Artificial Intelligent) to meet the requirements of dynamic systems. The framework is tested in the OpenStack testbed. The results show better performance in the term of computation speed.

Artificial Intelligence Deployment to Secure IoT in Industrial Environment

Performance enhancement and cost-effectiveness are the critical factors for most industries. There is a variation in the performance and cost matrices based on the industrial sectors; however, cybersecurity is required to be maintained since most of the 4th industrial revolution (4IR) are based on technology. Internet of Things, IoT, technology is one of the 4IR pillars that support enhancing performance and cost. Like most Internet-based technologies, IoT has some security challenges mostly related to access control and exposed services. Artificial intelligence (AI) is a promising approach that can enhance cybersecurity. This chapter explores industrial IoT (IIoT) from the business view and the security requirements. It also provides a critical analysis of the security challenges faced by IoT systems. Finally, it presents a comparative study of the advisable AI categories to be used in mitigating IoT security challenges.
