Prof. Dr. Asghari Maqsood is currently working as a Dean, Faculty of Basics and Applied Sciences, Air University, Islamabad, Pakistan. She has experience of over 40 years in research of advanced materials. She got her M.Sc. (Materials Science) from University of Oxford, England, Ph.D. (Materials Science) from Goteborg University, Sweden and a Diploma (Experimental work) from University of Uppsala, Sweden. She has 212 research publications to her credit including 180 journal publications, and 4 book chapters. She has been awarded with many national and international awards including gold medal from the University of the Punjab (1971-72), Merit Certificate from the University of the Punjab (1971-72), INFAQ foundation prize by Pakistan Academy of Sciences (2000), Gold Medal by Pakistan Academy of Sciences (2000), President’s Award for Pride of Performance, 14th August (2001), Cash prize award with Pride of Performance, the Best University Teacher Award for the year (2002) from HEC, Islamabad, Prime Minister Gold Medal and financial award on Salaam Teacher Day Oct. 5, (2004), President Award: Izaz-i-Fazeelat for Academic Distinction (2005), Civil Award Sitara- e- Imtiaz in August 2010, PVS life time achievement award in recognition of dedicated services in the field of Vacuum science and Technology in August 2013, Top lady physicist of Pakistan Award (2013), PCST publication award for the year 2013, Dr. Z. A. Hashmi Gold Medal on World Science Day for peace and Development (2014), Quaid-e-Azam University Golden Jubilee award 2017 awarded by chairman HEC, Pakistan.
