Sílvio Carlos Rodrigues
Sílvio Rodrigues holds a BS in Geography from the University of São Paulo (1987), and a Ph.D. in Physical Geography from the University of São Paulo (1998). He Chaired the Union of Brazilian Geomorphology in the 2005/2006 biennium. He was a Full Member of the Brazilian Scientific Research Board Advisory Committee on Physical Geography between 2008 and 2010 and a Full Member of the Chamber of Natural Resources in Minas Gerais State Scientific Agency between 2014 and 2016. He was Editor-in-Chief of Sociedade & Natureza (Society and Nature) Journal between 2008 and 2012. Currently, he is a member of the editorial board of 3 Brazilian Scientific journals. He was a member of UNESCO's EOLSS International Editorial Council and member of the Editorial Board of Uberlandia University Publisher from 2008 to 2011. He is a reviewer of the Brazilian Journal of Geomorphology, Environmental Earth Sciences (SPRINGER). He was secretary of the Commission On Land Degradation and Desertification of the International Geography Association between 2010 and 2012. Currently is a Full Professor of the Institute of Geography, at the Federal University of Uberlândia, working on the undergraduate and graduate courses, as well as a member of the Graduate Program. He has experience in the field of Geosciences, with an emphasis on Geomorphology, acting mainly on the following themes: geomorphology, geomorphological cartography, soil erosion, integrated environmental analysis, and geomorphological mapping.
