Claudia Bizzarri

Karlsruhe Institute of Technology

Born in Rome (Italy), Claudia Bizzarri received her B.Sc. and M.Sc. in Chemistry from the University of Rome “Tor Vergata”, under the supervision of Prof. Barbara Floris and Prof. Valeria Conte. She did her Ph.D. on luminescent iridium(III) and copper(I) complexes for optoelectronic applications under the supervision of Prof. Luisa De Cola at the University of Münster (Germany), completed in 2012. She was visiting student in 2007 at the University of Minnesota Duluth (Duluth, USA) and in 2010 at the University College London (London, UK). After a couple of years as Process Engineer at AIXTRON SE (Aachen, Germany), she was post-doc at the CAT Catalytic Centre of the University RWTH Aachen. Since the end of 2016, Claudia Bizzarri has been an independent junior group leader at Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (Mentor: Prof. Stefan Bräse). Her research interests focus on photoactive coordination metal complexes. In particular, she develops new earth-abundant metal complexes, starting from the organic synthesis of new ligands to the photophysical and electrochemical characterization of the final metal complexes. Her coordination metal complexes find applications in the field of artificial photosynthesis and in bio-imaging.
