Shuang Cong

Cong Shuang, female, born in April 1961, is a professor and doctoral supervisor at the University of Science and Technology of China (USTC). Cong received her bachelor’s degree from the Department of Automatic Control, Beijing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics in 1982. In 1989, Cong went to Italy to carry out collaborative research, where she earned her Ph.D. degree in 1995. Cong did her postdoctoral work at USTC after her Ph.D. studies and then joined the faculty of the Department of Automation, USTC. Prof. Cong’s research interests include: neural network control, fuzzy logic control, variable structure control, repetitive control, genetic algorithms, multi-level inverted pendulum control, design of new neural network controller,and intelligent control strategies. Prof. Cong’s current research interests lie in high-speed high-precision parallel mechanism platform, multi-DOF robot coordination control, continuous path control, quantum systems control, etc. Prof. Cong has authored more than 370 research papers and invited papers published in academic journals at home and abroad or presented to international academic conferences, of which over 90 were indexed by SCI/EI, four monographs, and four co-authored books, with a total of citations standing at around 1000 times. Besides, she has also presided over more than a dozen research projects including those supported by the National Natural Science Foundation of China. Prizes and honors that Prof. Cong has gained include: two authorized national invention patents, one second prize of the Anhui Provincial Science and Technology Awards in Natural Science, one first prize, two second prizes and one third prize of the Anhui Provincial Excellent Academic Papers Award in Natural Science, as well as one Chinese Academy of Sciences Award for Outstanding Young Scholars. Prof. Cong has once served as Secretary General of the 3rd World Congress on Intelligent Control and Automation (WCICA2000). She once was Vice Chairman of the Youth Committee of the Chinese Association of Automation, She currently holds the positions of Vice Chairman of the System Simulation Committee of the Chinese Association of Automation, Member of the Control Theory and Applications Committee of the Chinese Association of Automation, as well as Member of the Manufacturing Automation Committee of the Chinese Association of Automation. Moreover, Prof. Cong also serves as peer reviewer for over a dozen academic journals at home and abroad and member of the expert panel for the National Natural Science Foundation of China and for the Anhui Provincial Department of Science and Technology.
