Sergio Sánchez

Prof. Sergio Sánchez is currently working as professor at Department of Molecular Biology and Biotechnology, Instituto de Investigaciones Biomédicas, Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México (UNAM), Mexico. He has more than fifty years of research experience in the fields of genomics, molecular biology, proteomics, secondary metabolites production, transcriptomics and plant growth promotion. Prof. Sánchez has completed various externally funded research projects on whole genome study on actinobacteria and production of bioactive compounds. Prof. Sánchez has organized several international and national conferences and seminars. Prof. Sánchez has been awarded with several honors like Fellow, National Institutes of Health in 1974-1975 and Fellow, Consejo Nacional de Ciencia y Tecnología in 1973-1974. Prof. Sánchez is helping as editor of various reputed scientific journals like Applied Microbiology and Biotechnology, Current Opinion of Pharmacology, Journal of Molecular Biology and Biotechnology, BioTecnologia etc. He is also active member of several national and international professional bodies/ scientific societies like Mexican Society for Biochemistry, Mexican Society for Biotechnology and Bioengineering and American Academy of Microbiology etc. His team has published more than 125 research papers in peer reviewed journals and 35 book chapters in international publishers. He has also edited three books published from Caister Academic Press and CRC Press.
