Harvard University

Education: Doctor of Philosophy in Chemistry, University of Toledo, Toledo, OH, USA Current Position: Postdoctoral Researcher, Harvard University, Cambridge, MA, USA Dr. Mengchao Shi obtained his Ph.D. degree from the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry at the University of Toledo. Currently Dr. Shi is working as a research fellow at Harvard Medical School and Broad Institute, his work involved several on-going projects, including the discovery of small molecule inhibitor targeting CRISPR-Cas9 genome editing system, which is a part of DARPA Safe Gene Program; discovery of Phosphorylation-Inducing Chimeric Small molecules (PHICS), a class of chimeric molecules that can induce specific phosphorylation on targeted protein. In the course of graduate research, Dr. Shi worked on the design and synthesis of entirely carbohydrate-based conjugate for cancer vaccine development. His research focused on the synthesis of complex carbohydrate molecules, bacteria zwitterionic polysaccharide, bioconjugation, and immunology.
