Joerg Fliege
Prof. Dr. Joerg Fliege is a Full Professor and Chair of Operational Research within the Department of Mathematical Sciences at the University of Southampton, as well as Head of the Operational Research Group within Mathematical Sciences. His research interests include, among others, optimisation, especially algorithms for “hard” optimisation problems, global optimisation, multiobjective optimisation, optimisation under uncertainty, and optimisation in distributed computing environments. Joerg has published more than 100 papers in highly prestigious journals and other venues and given more than 80 invited presentations at various international venues. He is a Fellow of the Operational Research Society, signifying highest levels of achievements and major contributions to the field of Operational Research. He is Associate Editor for Computational and Applied Mathematics and for Applied Mathematics and Computation, and member of the Council for Mathematical Sciences, an expert advisory group for the government of the UK on matters affecting the mathematical sciences in higher education and research in the UK.
