Martin Sames

Dr. Martin Sames is a Professor and Chairman of Department of Neurosurgery at Masaryk Hospital, University J.E.Purkinje, also at 2nd Medical Faculty of the Charles University. He completed his M.D. degree in 1988 with honors and in his work afterwards his experience grew especially through special training and courses on the international level. His clinical work can be divided into: - Neurovascular program: Vice-chairman of the Neurovascular Center focused on surgery and endovascular treatment of the cerebral aneurysms, AVM, cerebral ischemia; - Skull base program: 2004 establishment of the clinical and educational Skull Base Center and the Center for Facial Nerve Surgery (WFNS Education Center class 'A”); and his experimental work into: - Cranial and peripheral nerve regeneration; -  Anatomical skull base dissections, since 1999 institution of Anatomical Skull Base Laboratory (the 1st in the Czech Republic). He is a member of various societies, for some of which he is also serving as the president. He is also engaged in editorial positions of various publications being a member of their editorial boards. Altogether, Dr. Sames is a productive author with over 150 publications including papers, articles, monographs and books. Throughout his career, he held more than 135 invited speeches.
