Yiseyon Hosu

Dr. Sunday Yiseyon Hosu is a Nigerian, born on October 12th 1973. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Agricultural Economics and Farm Management from the Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta, Nigeria in 2004. He obtained a Master’s degree from Nigeria’s premier university: The University of Ibadan, Nigeria, in 2007 and PhD in Agricultural/Environmental Economics from the University of Fort Hare in 2013. His PhD thesis is a holistic attempt to know the determinants of food system among the poor households in the semi-arid region; the Eastern Cape Province of South Africa. He focused on modeling small farms’ optimal productivity under stressed environmental conditions, resource utilization and effective institutional services provision. His study made insight on the necessary conditions to boost smallholder productivity and food security among the small-holder farmers in the Eastern Cape Province. Dr Hosu is a recipient of several scholarship awards by both public and private institutions such as Ogun State Scholarship Award (2000-2003), Mutual Assurance Scholarship Award (1999-2006), Special PhD Research Award (UFH-2011-2013). He was one of the delegates at the pioneer young scientist summer program (YSSP) hosted by International Institute of Applied System Analysis (IIASA) in the University of Free State, Bloemfontein in 2012. His previous appointments include: Student tutor and Postdoctoral Fellow in the University of Fort Hare, Alice Campus. His research interest focuses on optimal resource utilization for sustainable livelihood, food security and food systems as well as rural poverty analysis. He has author and co-author many papers. He has read papers on food issues at several local and international conferences in countries such as United Kingdom, Greece and United States.
