Janusz Kleban was born in 1958. He received the MSc and the PhD degrees in Telecommunications from the Poznan University of Technology (PUT), Poznań, Poland in 1982 and 1990 respectively. From August 1982 to November 1983 he was with Computer Centre for Building Industry in Poznań, where he worked on data transmission systems. Since December 1983 he has been with the Institute of Electronics and Telecommunications at PUT, where he currently is an Assistant Professor. His research interests include control algorithms for broadband switching networks, architectures of the ATM switches, lightwave networks and optical switching systems, all optical networks, integrated multimedia telecommunications, internet protocols and services, and QoS in packet networks. He has been involved in several projects founded by the Polish State Committee for Scientific Research (KBN) concerning switching network architectures. He has wide practical experience confirmed in cooperation with many polish computer and telecommunications companies. Dr. Kleban is the author or co-author of 35 papers and many unpublished reports. He also acts as a reviewer for IEEE Global Telecommunications Conference (IEEE Globecom) and IEEE International Conference on Communications (IEEE ICC). He is involved in teaching activity at PUT. He gives lectures on: computer networks, network management, broadband networks, internetworking problems and information networks. He also participates in industrial education acting as a lecturer in courses on broadband networks, voice transmission over packet networks and ISDN networks. He is the co-organiser of the computer networks laboratory at the Institute of Electronics and Telecommunications. Dr. Kleban made many scientific visit, especially within Tempus projects to: Ecole Nouvelle d’Ingenieurs en Communication (Lille, France); Ecole Nationale Superieure des Télécommunications de Bretagne (Rennes, France); Telecom Paris - Ecole Nationale Superieure des Télécommunications (Paris, France); Institut National des Télécommunications (Evry, France), University College London (London, United Kingdom); Universität Kaiserslautern (Kaiserslautern, Germany); Tampere University of Technology (Tampere, Finland); Oulu Institute of Technology (Oulu, Finland); Katholieke Universiteit Leuven (Leuven, Belgium).
