Dr. Muhammad Wajid Ullah received his BS and MS degrees in Biotechnology from University of Peshawar and COMSATS Institute of Information Technology, Pakistan in 2009 and 2011, respectively. He worked as Research Associate at Biotechnology Laboratory at COMSATS Institute of Information Technology, Pakistan (March 2011-October 2011). Then he moved to South Korea and obtained his PhD degree in Chemical Engineering from Kyungpook National University in 2016. From March to August 2016, he worked as a “Research Fellow” at Department of Biomedical Engineering, Huazhong University of Science and Technology, PR China and was promoted to Post-Doctoral Researcher in September 2016 and currently working at this position. During the academic and professional career, he received several honors and awards including KNU Honor Scholarship (KHS) by Korean Government, Master Fellowship Award by COMSATS University Islamabad, Pakistan, Bachelor Fellowship Award by Higher Education Commission of Pakistan, and several others. He obtained a research grant from ‘China Postdoctoral Science Foundation’ as principle investigator. He is currently an active member of several scientific societies, including Korean Institute of Chemical Engineers (KIChE), Korean Society of Biotechnology and Bioengineering (KSBB), Asian Federation of Biotechnology (AFOB), and International Institute of Chemical, Biological, & Environmental Engineering (IICBE). He has published more than 45 articles (as first author, co-first author, co-author, and corresponding author) in peer reviewed well-reputed international journals such as ACS Sustainable Chemistry and Engineering, Carbohydrate Polymers, Biomaterials, Cellulose, RSC Advances, Biochemical Engineering Journal, Biotechnology Journal, Theranaustics, and Applied Microbiology and Biotechnology with cumulative impact factor of over 150 that has been cited over 640 times (Google scholar H-index: 14; i10-index: 21). In addition, he authored a book (World Scientific Publishers, UK) as co-editor and 12 book chapters (Elsevier, Wiley, Springer, and World Scientific Publishers, etc.), filed two patent applications, and presented his work in over 60 conferences around the world. His current research interests include the Fabrication of bacterial cellulose and other natural polymers-based functional materials for applications in energy storage, drug delivery, tissue engineering and regenerative medicines, in addition to Microbial Biotemplating, 3D Bioprinting, and Development of cell-free systems for production of biocommodities.
