Jorge Olcina is a Professor of Regional Geographical Analysis at the University of Alicante (Spain). He was speaker at the International Year of Planet Earth (2008), declared by UNESCO. He was a visiting professor at universities in Spain, Europe and Latin America. With near two hundred publications in indexed journals and books, his research has focused on issues related to climate change mitigation and adaptation measures, and climate risks management. He is the Principal Investigator of the Competitive Research Group of the University of Alicante in “Climate and Territorial Planning” since 2002; and he is also part of research teams “History and Climate” and “Water and Territory”, also since 2002. He is the President of the Association of Spanish Geographers (AGE) since November 2017.
