Mohammed Latif Khan

Dr. Mohammed Latif Khan is a full Professor of Botany at Dr. Harisngh Gour Central University, Sagar, Madhya Pradesh, India. By training, he is a plant ecologist and conservation biologist. His research interests gradually expanded from tree regeneration to the fields of biodiversity conservation, eco-restoration, ecosystem services, carbon sequestration, molecular genetics, and phylogeny. He has contributed 205 peer-reviewed papers and 60 book chapters. Three books have been authored by him. He has published several articles in journals such as Nature, PNAS (USA), Nature Ecology & Evolution, Nature Scientific Report, Critical Review in Biotechnology, Science of the Total Environment etc. Dr. Khan is the member of several professional national and international societies. He is also the member of Global Forest Biodiversity Initiatives (GFBI), USA and IUCN CEM S. Asia. He is the Fellow of several National and International Academia and Societies. Dr. Khan has also been the member of many national and international boards and committees. His research continues to play a critical role in our understanding of forest dynamics throughout India, influencing researchers from across the globe and leaving a major impact on scientists and conservation authorities. In view of outstanding research contribution in the field of Ecology and Environment, Dr. Khan has been included as an expert in the committee constituted by the Office of the Principal Scientific Adviser to the Government of India to draft the Mega Science Vision-2035 of India. Further, he is the partner to setup the Long-Term Ecological Observatories (LTEO, a programme of MoEF & Climate Change, Government of India) at different landscapes of India.
