Hollie Cockings

Swansea University

Dr Hollie Cockings is a lecturer of metallurgy within the College of Engineering, Swansea University and is sponsored by Tata Steel UK. With an expertise in high temperature environmental degradation and fatigue in structural materials, her research has spanned from novel test method development, high temperature corrosion fatigue in power generation alloys (such as Ni-based superalloys) and failure analysis of metallic materials. Research interests are currently aligned to the characterisation of the mechanical properties of steel in aggressive environments, fatigue assessments at ambient and elevated temperatures and optimisation of processing techniques for low carbon steelmaking. In addition, her previous experience in advanced testing and processing techniques allows for translation into simulating laboratory-scale steel making processes for chemical optimisation, resource efficiency and the circular economy.
