Ikanshi Khanna

Ikanshi Khanna is a young Assistant Professor at Centre for Early Childhood Development & Research (CECDR), Jamia Millia Islamia. Her aim is to actively engage in the research and advocacy campaigns in the area of Early Childhood Care & Education and endorse ECD innovations/practices in India. The past decade she was involved with, liaising and maintaining relationships with stakeholders, academia, advisory board, consultants, partners and international/local/government agencies Ikanshi is passionate about developing meaningfully stakeholders and grantees engagements and welfare programs, building strategies to strengthen the pedagogical abilities of teachers and forming positive partnerships between active stakeholders. She did work with them- in key projects related to early childhood care, special needs, adolescent and youth as prisoners in India, children of prostitutes, adulthood and elderly. Prior to joining Jamia, She was co-heading the READ Alliance, USAID program at Centre for Knowledge Societies, where she worked towards spurring an early grade reading movement in India by fostering and supporting new approaches and innovative reading solutions that offer to solve the reading challenge in India. She has also worked with Centre for Early Childhood Education and Development (CECED) at Ambedkar University Delhi where she led a few independent and grouped research projects in ECCE. During her coursework in M.SC at Lady Irwin College, Delhi University, she engaged herself with several governmental and non-governmental (private) institutes/organizations like Salaam Balak Trust, Delhi Council for Child Welfare (DCCW), etc. to understand the wide spectrum of early childhood services in India both at the level of planning and implementation. She has a passion for areas such as early childhood years, gender, disability, livelihoods, and education.
