Begoña Espiña

Begoña Espiña (co-editor) holds a BSc and PhD degrees in Biology by the University of Santiago de Compostela, Spain. She leads the Water Quality group at the INL - International Iberian Nanotechnology Laboratory (Braga, Portugal). Begoña’s research focuses on nanotechnology applied to find new solutions for mitigating the impact of water contaminants in human health, environment and industry. Begoña has integrated and managed several major competitive research projects funded by EU; ATLANTOX, PHARMATLANTIC, BIOCOP. She is currently principal investigator for several regional and national (Spanish) projects: FEDER-Innterconecta Mytitox and FEDER-GAIN WaterNanoEnv, and Interreg projects such as SUDOE-NanoDesk or POCTEP-NanoEATERS. She has published over 30 peer-reviewed papers, with circa 250 citations by other authors and with an h-index of 13 and is co-author of 4 book chapters and 2 patents related to optical detection methods.
