Dr. Zhongzhi Fu is a Senior Engineer in the Geotechnical Engineering Department of Nanjing Hydraulic Research Institute (NHRI), which is a non-profit research center on water-related issues governed by the Ministry of Water Resources, China. Dr. Fu specialized in hydraulic structures and obtained his doctoral degree from Hohai University in 2011. Since then he became a consultant engineer in NHRI in June 2011 and participated in consulting works for more than 30 dams of different types, including the world’s highest Concrete Faced Gravel Dam (the 247-m Dashixia CFGD in Xinjiang) and the world’s highest Earth Core Rockfill Dam (the 315-m Rumei ECRD in Tibet). He has published over 60 technical papers in national and international journals and conference proceedings, and is one of the authors of two books on rockfill dam engineering. He is the secretary of the Soil Mechanics and Geotechnics Committee of the Chinese Hydraulic Engineering Society, and is also a member of the Chinese National Committee on Large Dams.
