Speranta Valeria Tanasescu is the Head of the Laboratory of Chemical Thermodynamics. She is a senior researcher in the Institute of Physical Chemistry “Ilie Murgulescu” of the Romanian Academy, Bucharest and a PhD Supervisor in the Chemistry domain. Her background is in Physical Chemistry, Chemical Thermodynamics, Solid State Electrochemistry. She won the “Gh.Spacu” Award of the Romanian Academy in 1972. Dr. Tanasescu’s thematic research area is oriented on activities with impact in the following domains: materials science and engineering, nanoscience and nanotechnology, new sources of energies, nanosafety, nanomedicine etc. The obtained results by her group are significant for both the understanding of materials processing-structure relationships, as well as for finding key parameters in relation to bio-reactivity of the nanomaterials with impact in both nanosafety and nanomedicine research.
