Dr. Sachin Tyagi is working as a Scientist in Analytical Techniques Division, CSIR-CSIO Chandigarh. He is also an Assistant Professor at the Academy of Scientific innovative research (AcSIR-CSIO) at CSIO Chandigarh. He is working as a coordinator of courses entitled “Material Science and Engineering” and “Advanced Materials and Nano Sciences” running as a regular M.Tech course at AcSIR-CSIO Chandigarh. Before joining CSIO, Dr. Sachin Tyagi has worked as a Research Associate in the Department of Metallurgical and Materials Engineering, Indian Institute of Technology Roorkee. He received his M.Sc (Physics) and M.Tech (Materials Science and Engineering) from Delhi University and Thapar University respectively. He obtained his Ph.D. (2012) in Materials Engineering (Studies on Hexaferrite Based Nano Composite for RADAR/Microwave Absorption Applications) from the prestigious Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Roorkee. His main research is focused on the development of nano ferrites comprising hard ferrite (MFe12O19, M=Ba, Sr, Ca) and soft ferrite (MFe2O4, M= Ni, Co, Zn) by different chemical routes for Microwave absorption and Gas sensing application. He is also developing a probe of nanomaterials for explosive sensing applications. He has expertise in characterizing the materials with different advanced characterization techniques like XRD, TEM, VSM, SQUID, BET, DSC/TG/DTG etc. He is also an expert in conjugating/capping nanoparticles with different amino acids/ polymers. He has published 40 peer-reviewed articles, 50 conference proceedings articles and has filed one patent in collaboration with IIT Roorkee and DRDO Chandipur. He has delivered more than 20 invited talks and also worked as a technical committee member at many national/international conferences and institutes. Currently, Dr. Sachin Tyagi is supervising 8 Ph.D. and 8 M. Tech students at AcSIR-CSIO Chandigarh.
