Prof. Stefano Valabrega is the Associate Professor of Surgery at the Sapienza University of Rome, Department of Medical and Surgical Sciences and Translational Medicine, Sapienza. He has been married since 1982 and has three daughters. He received his high school degree at Liceo scientifico in 1971, finished Medical school at University of Rome “La Sapienza “ summa cum laude in June 1979, Residency in Digestive Surgery summa cum laude 1982 working at IV Dpt of Surgery in University of Rome La Sapienza, Residency in General Surgery summa cum laude in 1987 working at I Dpt of Surgery in Policlinico Umberto I of Rome. He worked as the Assistant Professor from 1985 to 2001 at Policlinico Umberto I I Dpt of Surgery, he was the research fellow at the “Thomas Jefferson University Hospital ” Philadelphia, USA from February to September 1988. He was the attending Surgeon in Surgical Oncology at the Dpt of Oncology at Ospedale S. Pertini of Rome since 2001-2006 . He serves as the Chief of the program “Thoracoscopic Surgery” at Ospedale S. Pertini. from 2001-2006, as the Assistant Professor at S'Andrea Hospital from 2006 to 2011. He is the member of American Society of Colon and Rectal Surgeons, International Society University of Colo-Rectal Surgeons, FACS, Fellow ASCRS He is currently working as a Professor of Surgery in General Surgery Residency Program at the University of Rome " Sapienza” S. Andrea, Professor of Surgery in Thoracic Surgery Residency Program at University “la Sapienza” La Sapienza Policlinico Umberto I. He has published more than 210 scientific papers , book chapters, and has attended and served as a speaker at many national and international surgical conferences. He was Italian champion of Field Hockey 1970-71, Italian international in Field Hockey from 1969 to 1977 and he ran 17 marathons from 1996-2015.
