Assoc. Prof. Dr Bisera D Atanasova is a clinical chemist practicing at University Hospital “Alexandrovska” – Clinical Laboratory and Clinical Pharmacology, Medical University-Sofia, Bulgaria. She has been working on the field of trace elements (physiological and clinical significance and analysis in biological matrixes) for more than 30 years and now. She holds academic appointments at Department of Clinical Laboratory and Clinical Immunology of Medicine Faculty, Medical University – Sofia as a lecturer in clinical chemistry for pharmacy students and for medical doctors during post-graduated specialisation in clinical laboratory. She has attended University of Sofia (for 5 years), received master degree in chemistry, lately obtained post-graduation (for 3 years) in clinical chemistry at Medical Academy, Sofia and completed a Fellowship in iron metabolism (for 2 years) at Department of Clinical Biochemistry, King’s College Hospital and Division of Life Science, King’s College – London. Her PhD thesis focused on the regulation of intestinal iron absorption. She has participated in numerous reports at scientific meetings, in more than 70 peer-reviewed articles, text book chapters and several scientific communications. She is a member of professional societies and active in multidisciplinary research projects. She has received a Certification of Who’s Who Publication Board for a Subject of a Biographical Record in Marquis Who’s Who for Contribution to the Field of Science.
